What would happen if you give most people unlimited power?

July 20th, 2009

A person once said the best way to see a person’s true nature is to give them unlimited power with no consequences/punishment for their action. For most people, what do you think they would do with this unlimited power? Do you think they can handle unlimited power w/o repercussions?

In the same thought frame, do you think you can handle unlimited power w/o repercussions?

I would say that about 75 percent of the population would be self-serving if they had unlimited power. They might even become over-bearing and cruel. The rest of the 25 per cent would help the poor. They would get rid of dictators. They would try to make the planet a better place to live. I think that almost everyone, though, has a seed of corruption within them. They may not think so. I don’t think that I do, but who knows? I would hope I didn’t. I would want to help others. But what happens down the road after many years of always getting what you want?

No, the problem with unlimited power is that even with the best of intentions not everyone will agree. And al least some people will be hurt. Thats why we have democracy; where every position is considered and the majority rules,

if most people has unlimited power, there will be chaos on earth. imbalance of things.

when the nice guys help all the starving people of the world, there will no longer be starving people around. when others want to do something good to make themselves feel better, what else can they do?

some people might abuse the power for sure, and they will think that are able to handle it.

yes, i do think that i can handle unlimited power. but if i see a person who might be standing in front of an oncoming truck, i will not stop it.
it might upset the natural balance of things when people don’t die.
