What Bush administration philosophy and/or agenda will Obama embrace next?

September 21st, 2009

Now President Obama is in favor of charter schools and merit-based teacher pay. He’s reauthorizing No Child Left Behind. This comes after a long list of Bush-Era policies that he has perpetuated, both in the White House and even a few recorded votes during his time in the Senate, including Bush’s energy policy and FISA.

What do you think of his decidedly right-wing tendencies in these regards?

He’s grasping at straws…it’s more like he just wants to undermine all the good that the previous administration did for the schools and environment. If he was so supportive of charter schools and the public school system…then why didn’t he put his own daughters in it? They are at Sidwell Friends, an elite Quaker school that is attended by other "wealthy" families of D.C. Way to contradict yourself Obama. Did you hear he wants to change the "off the shelf" testing? He wants to give the minority students a leg up before they even start the test. Yeah that’s equality.

Goes to show even a liberal socialist thinks Bush had good policies.

Now we need to get Obama to insist they put vouchers back in the porkulus bill.

I’ll speak to one specifically. No child left behind was a Bush brain child. Fine. I’m good with that. Unfortunately, it was only a photo op. It was not funded.

Texas already has merit based teacher pay (or it did before my mom retired). It was called the ladder and was created by Ross Perot. He also helped us create no pass no play rules that resulted in tons of kids dropping out of school because they no longer had a reason to go.

Until parents step up and do their job and be parents instead of friends, our future is pretty much screwed. I dread the day when today’s teenager becomes tomorrow’s President.

I think he has no clue what he is doing ! He is like a kid with ADD he jumps around from one thing to the next signing things but never giving any thought to any of it seems to me. He just act like it’s all about how much he can get the cameras on him signing papers regardless of what they are !
