One of my budgies periodically loses it's flight feathers, but only on ONE wing at a time.?
The left wing is perfectly formed and has all of it's feathers, but the right wing lost it's flight feathers. This is the second time this happened to my bird. It hasn't happened since last year. I don't remember which wing she lost feathers on last time.
I thought it was the French molt last time it happened, but then the feathers grew back. The budgie is perfectly healthy otherwise, bright eyes, feathers, beak, good energy, etc.
Anyone know what this might be?
It sounds like he may have a nutritional deficiency. I would give him more protein-rich foods to eat like hard-boiled eggs. I would recommend taking your budgie to see an avian vet to make sure there is nothing else wrong with it. Budgies can seem healthy but are good at hiding any illness they may have.
