   The referenced source provides a great link for estimating your solar panel system needs. Be prepared with your current or average electrical usage from your utility bill.
   The link will even calculate down to incentives and rebates available for your location.
   Some advice if considering going whole house solar is to do an energy audit and see where you might bring down your energy usage. I have included a link that might be interesting to check on this energy saving issue. Less electricity means less solar panel need.

   I had considered the same thing. I was ultimately referred to a GREAT handyman site that has a section dedicated to alternative energy, specifically solar panels.

   I found it very informative.

   Unfortunately without knowing your energy usage it is impossible to give an estimate on total system costs for a solar electric system. You can find out more about sizing your system by reading this article.
