And fossil fuel in general? Rush and some others can go on and on about how good it is. I think alternative energy is a good idea if only for the fact that it can divorce us from middle east politics.
I understand that part of it is to push the left's buttons which can be fun.
jason and gary – both good points. I am of the opinion that the technology does exist now and that it just needs to be implemented.
Build just two refineries…and the burden would decrease, but environmentalist through road blocks and the Palosi Congress (Which made a campaign promise to lower gas prices) found that they can't find the fiber in themselves to reduce th taxes at the pump…

Yes. I think we need to find an alternative, but in the mean time let's drill right here in the US.

The best interests of this nation are most certainly in between the battle lines drawn between the Al Gore's and the Bush's.
For national security, scientific, and economic reasons we should do whatever it takes to break the addiction to foreign oil.

I think you'r reading into what they are saying. It's not that they think Big Oil is the best idea under the sun, it's that some of the other ideas are so far out there.

look… alternative energy has to make economic sense.. you start making drastic changes to policies, it will cause economic collapses like no other.. i don't believe that fossil fuels are the answer for the future, but, alternative energy as it is, is not the answer either.. biofuel can be just as pollutive to produce.. and think about it.. you need LAND to plant these biofuel crops.. there's not much of that left anymore.. and you get into environmental snags with that as well… what we need to do is continue to research alternative fuels and sources of energy… meanwhile, to ween us off of mid-east oil, we need to be allowed access to the VAST oil reserves off of our coasts and in areas that the environmentalists want to keep us out of..

No, not really. I think the newsmedia and the far left just keep stirring the same old pot – it's an old argument. The fact is, we all have benefited by Big Oil. I would be hard pressed to find anyone that has not benefited. The fact is, the Republicans have, for years, tried to get us to drill here in America, but the Democrates have stopped it every time. Why? Why if they think it's so wrong for us to be dependent on foreign oil, haven't they worked 'together' and got us out of this dependency? The bottom line is, they talk out of both sides of their mouth. Every year we hear the same old stories, but when it comes to putting the metal to the floor, they back off! All they're doing is pandering to the American people. I believe we should drill in Alaska, or off-shore where we're letting China, ….. why are we asleep??? I think the majority of 'right wing' people do not feel as the far-right. People just throw everybody in the same pot and refuse to believe there are 'those' who do think for themselves, and are not like sheep following the 'loudest' shepherd.
