Energy from the sun comes in the form of heat and light. Plants convert light into biological energy through photosynthesis.
Photovoltaic cells and panels convert light to electric current. Heat from the sun can also be converted into mechanical and electrical energy by focusing the heat on a steam generator to run a steam engine or hot air engine.
Mechanical energy can be further converted into electricity, and electricity can be converted into mechanical or chemical energy.

Used directly, you can only get thermal energy (through reflectors to heat a liquid to generate steam to power a turbine to generate electricity) and electrical energy (PV cells) from solar energy. However, wind is caused primarily by heat changes due to the energy from the sun, so solar energy is the main indirect component of wind energy also. Any of the above can be converted to mechanical energy.

chemical and mechanical.
plants use the sun energy to change CO2 and H2O sugar. also if you leave an object in the sun for a while it’s colors will start to fade because the sun is breaking down the chemicals that give that item it’s color.
in my sixth grade science class the teacher brought out this little glass ball that had a gizmo inside it and when the light shined on it, it would spin.
the gizmo had a center post with four diamond shapes attached to it on side of the diamond was white and the other was black
