Which renewable energy is the best source?
I have to write a report comparing and contrasting 3 types of renewable energy sources. One of my chosen ones is already geothermal, can you give me two more renewable energy sources that are considered the best ones? Because I have to choose which one is the best and explain why it is.
Thanks.
By the way if you can, make sure it's a good source for CANADA.
There is no single best source. What works best in one area may not work at all in another. Solar is great, but only works when the sun is out, wind can work 24/7 but many areas the winds are seasonal. geothermal only works in specific geographical areas and is impractical for individual use. The best is a combination of energy sources to ensure no interuption in service.

Suggest good search via Google.
some quick ideas:
1- Wind- getting lots of attention; the Chinese are sharp and recently embarked on HUGH project on wind turbines,
2- Tidal currents- esp. strong ones- several places are favorable for Canada- Bay of Funda, etc. nearby- several systems capture lots of this energy as it goes both ways.

I'd go with Wind as biofuels requires so much space that the forests that are being cut down to produce farm fields are actually reducing the carbon-intake of the area resulting in a net loss of environmental effect.

About the only decent one is hydro but that's pretty much already fully utilised in Canada (along with much of the rest of the developed world) and the sites that are left to develop probably won't be due to environmental reasons.
Hydro has it's problems, but of the renewables it really the only one that actually gets serious use (wind and solar exist mostly to fool people into thinking they can replace fossil fuels without splitting atoms).

wind energy i would say… quiet, reliable, CLEAN. They can be instaled like pillars in the water or anyplace where there's a relativelty flat open area. the technology is already here and it's getting RAVE reviews.

i have at now got two small windmills that are supplying 65% of the electric power for my home, they have been running now for a little more than 2 years now. Im also putting a solar powerd hotwater
system. we will see how that works.
